Some of the most convincing scams impersonate a real, regulated company — same name style, lookalike website, plausible paperwork. When the impersonation is good, the only defence is speed.

Case snapshot
Reported operator: SwissCapital Ltd · Location: Leeds, United Kingdom · Reported loss: £104,000
Timeline to resolution: 6 weeks · Outcome: 92% of traced funds returned

How it started

Hina believed she was dealing with an established firm. The operators behind SwissCapital Ltd had built a clone presentation convincing enough that she transferred £104,000 toward what she thought was a regulated account.

The moment it unravelled

It was a clone — an entity wearing a legitimate-looking identity to harvest a single large transfer. The moment the payment cleared, the “relationship manager” and the account access evaporated.

“Everything looked official, right down to the documents. The day it cleared, they disappeared. The only reason I got almost all of it back is that I called for help the very next morning instead of waiting.”
— H. Akhtar, Leeds

What we did

Because Hina acted within 24 hours, the payment had not yet been dispersed. We identified the receiving account, supported an authorised-push-payment style claim with her bank, and the funds were largely held and recalled.

The outcome

About 92% was recovered over six weeks — one of our stronger outcomes, and almost entirely because of how fast she moved. A day or two later and the story would likely have ended very differently.

What you can take from this

  • Verify a firm independently — never through links or numbers the “firm” gives you.
  • Clone scams rely on a single large transfer; speed of response is your best leverage.
  • If you suspect a fraudulent transfer, contact your bank immediately — hours matter, not days.

If you have been affected by SwissCapital Ltd or a platform that behaves the same way, you can request a free case review. We will look at the evidence and tell you honestly whether your case is worth pursuing — recovery is never guaranteed, but knowing where your funds went is the first real step.
